Year 6 (and 3 year 5s) completed their Young Leaders award this week. They learnt the main principles of being a good leader and how to put this into practice. They led games and created games for others to play. We will use this to start a lunch time games club next week which will be available for the rest of the school to play.
Father’s Day Picnic
Upper and Lower School celebrated a successful Father’s Day picnic today and I would like to extend my thanks to all who came along to join in and show their support for the event and the school. Thank you to all the staff and Kitchen teams who made the event successful, comments from parents and children showed it was a real success!
Parliament Day
Upper school joined in today with the UK General Election on June the 8th by spending the whole afternoon learning about Democracy, voting and debating. KS2 took part in a number of activities looking at the British Values of Tolerance, Rule of Law, Democracy and Individual Liberty.

Green Trees Award Day
Keystage 2 spent the day celebrating our local environment and learning all about minibeasts, local wildlife and habitats. They also worked in mixed age groups across 4 different activities to develop and foster upper school cohesion and further develop school ethos.

Easter Egg Competition
Congratulations to all the pupils and parents who participate in this years Easter Egg competition, and to all those that won in each class. Each entry showed great imagination and creativity and every child who entered should be praised for their effort.
Healthy Bus Visits Leadgate Primary
Pupils from Reception to Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to learn more about healthy living and healthy choices. This included: staying Fit, drinking plenty of water, dental Health and hygiene, washing and cleaning ourselves properly, and making healthy choices with food and exercise. As a reward for participation, the Healthy Bus donated a new water bottle to every child in school!
Year 3 Reading Boost in Reception
As part of their visit across to the Healthy Bus, Year 3 took the opportunity to share some of their English work with our Reception Class. The Year 3 children had made their own versions of the Iron Man story and thoroughly enjoyed sharing them with Reception children who totally enjoyed the story telling session.

Halloween lunch
Leadgate Primary School celebrated Halloween at lunch time. At the Lower School, our cooks dressed up especially for the occasion and the children loved their Halloween display.
Lexi (Reception) noticed “The fruit is all Halloween stuff, and it’s got webs on.”
Daniel (Reception) said “A banana is a mummy. It’s got bandages on it.”
Grace (Year 1) was surprised: “Ah! A vampire! It’s an orange really!”
Lucas (Year 1) thought that “The pumpkin’s turned into a witch.”
Parent Rep Coffee Afternoon
Our Parent Representatives held a coffee and cakes afternoon on Friday 7th October to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research and Jeans for Genes day. Thank you to everyone who supported this.
