October 21, 2016 by admin

Leadgate Primary School celebrated Halloween at lunch time. At the Lower School, our cooks dressed up especially for the occasion and the children loved their Halloween display.

Lexi (Reception) noticed “The fruit is all Halloween stuff, and it’s got webs on.”

Daniel (Reception) said “A banana is a mummy. It’s got bandages on it.”

Grace (Year 1) was surprised: “Ah! A vampire! It’s an orange really!”

Lucas (Year 1) thought that “The pumpkin’s turned into a witch.”

Jeans for Genes Day

September 24, 2016 by admin

jeans-for-genes logoCongratulations to the whole school for supporting Jeans for Genes day. Thank you to everyone who wore their jeans to school to raise money. It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder and 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year. The money we raised will help the 500,000 children living with a genetic disorder. A big thank you to Louise Alcroft from the Durham Genome Centre who worked with Year 5 and Year 6 to explain all about DNA.

By the end of the day we raised a total of £132.
