Year 6 Robinwood Residential – What an Adventure!

Our Year 6 pupils have throughly enjoyed their Robinwood Residential, and what a brilliant adventure it was! Over the course of the trip, the children embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination, showing incredible teamwork and resilience.

Despite some wet and windy weather, spirits remained high, and the smiles never faded! From climbing to problem-solving and canoeing, every activity was tackled with energy and excitement. It was wonderful to see the children supporting each other and growing in confidence throughout the experience.

A huge thank you to the staff who accompanied the trip and to our amazing Year 6 pupils for making this such a memorable event. We are so proud of you all!

 

It was a real pleasure to meet and work with the staff and pupils from Leadgate Primary School during their trip to Robinwood. From the moment they arrived, the children brought fantastic energy, positivity, and a real willingness to challenge themselves. It was especially lovely to see the strong rapport that developed between the groups and their leaders, Princess Jonny and Doug, with plenty of encouragement, teamwork, and laughter along the way. The pupils were a credit to their school and made the experience enjoyable for everyone involved

Supporting Course Leader, Robinwood

It was wonderful working with the teachers and pupils from Leadgate Primary School. The children gave 100% to every activity, supporting one another and showing great determination throughout the residential. Even the dreaded piranha pool was no match for their resilience, teamwork, and positive attitude! Despite some challenging weather conditions, their enthusiasm never faded. The pupils represented Leadgate superbly and should be extremely proud of everything they achieved over the three days.

Educational Visits

At Leadgate Primary School, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Educational visits and trips are an important part of our curriculum, offering children exciting opportunities to explore new environments, experience hands-on learning, and deepen their understanding of topics studied in school. From local museums and historical sites to outdoor learning adventures and cultural experiences, these trips help bring learning to life and develop confidence, independence, and curiosity.

 

 

Extra- Curricular Sports

We are proud to offer a wide range of extra-curricular sports clubs that encourage teamwork, resilience, and a love of physical activity. Children have the opportunity to develop their skills in sports such as football, basketball, and cross-country running, while representing our school at various local and regional sporting events. These experiences not only promote fitness and healthy lifestyles but also help pupils build confidence, perseverance, and a strong sense of school community. We celebrate every child’s effort and achievement, whether they are competing or simply enjoying being active with friends.

 

 

Forest School

Forest School is an important part of our curriculum and every class has regular session delivered by either their class teacher or forest school leader.  These sessions encourage curiosity, creativity, and resilience through hands-on experiences such as building shelters, identifying plants and wildlife, and working collaboratively on practical challenges. Children develop important life skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and independence, all while fostering a deep respect for nature. Forest School not only supports physical and mental well-being but also brings learning to life outdoors

 

 

Maths Enrichment Week

Our recent Maths Enrichment Week was an incredible celebration of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork! Throughout the week, pupils took part in a wide range of exciting maths-themed activities and workshops designed to make learning fun, practical, and inspiring.

One of the highlights was the Enterprise Challenge, where each class worked together to design, cost, and create a unique product to sell at our Winter Fair. The children impressed us with their innovative ideas and attention to detail — from calculating costs and predicting profits, to developing branding and advertising strategies. Their final products were outstanding, showcasing not only mathematical skills but also creativity and collaboration.

The Dragon’s Den-style pitches were a real showstopper! Pupils presented their ideas confidently and persuasively, demonstrating fantastic communication skills and teamwork. It was wonderful to see how much their confidence grew as they applied maths in real-life contexts.

Maths Week wasn’t just about numbers — our Forest School sessions explored shapes, patterns, and measurement in nature, while art lessons focused on designing eye-catching packaging and promotional materials. Every activity reinforced the message that maths is everywhere and can be exciting, creative, and fun.
