Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

In Year 6, the class teacher is Miss Beveridge. This is the final year of primary school, and children take on even greater responsibility for their learning as they prepare for the transition to secondary education. They continue to develop independence, resilience, and confidence while tackling more advanced concepts across all subjects.
In Year 6 children consolidate knowledge, building on prior learning, applying skills in a range of contexts. Children engage in exciting topics, work on challenging projects, and develop essential life skills.
Alongside academic achievement, we place a strong emphasis on personal growth—being a good friend, showing respect, and working as part of a team—so that every child leaves primary school ready for the next stage of their journey. As part of their wider development, children learn about managing life changes, building healthy relationships, and understanding their place in the wider world. They also focus on their own health and wellbeing, developing into well-rounded, responsible, polite, and caring individuals who are prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
