Pupils from Reception to Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to learn more about healthy living and healthy choices. This included: staying Fit, drinking plenty of water, dental Health and hygiene, washing and cleaning ourselves properly, and making healthy choices with food and exercise. As a reward for participation, the Healthy Bus donated a new water bottle to every child in school!
Year 3 Reading Boost in Reception
As part of their visit across to the Healthy Bus, Year 3 took the opportunity to share some of their English work with our Reception Class. The Year 3 children had made their own versions of the Iron Man story and thoroughly enjoyed sharing them with Reception children who totally enjoyed the story telling session.

Halloween lunch
Leadgate Primary School celebrated Halloween at lunch time. At the Lower School, our cooks dressed up especially for the occasion and the children loved their Halloween display.
Lexi (Reception) noticed “The fruit is all Halloween stuff, and it’s got webs on.”
Daniel (Reception) said “A banana is a mummy. It’s got bandages on it.”
Grace (Year 1) was surprised: “Ah! A vampire! It’s an orange really!”
Lucas (Year 1) thought that “The pumpkin’s turned into a witch.”
Parent Rep Coffee Afternoon
Our Parent Representatives held a coffee and cakes afternoon on Friday 7th October to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research and Jeans for Genes day. Thank you to everyone who supported this.
Jeans for Genes Day
Congratulations to the whole school for supporting Jeans for Genes day. Thank you to everyone who wore their jeans to school to raise money. It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder and 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year. The money we raised will help the 500,000 children living with a genetic disorder. A big thank you to Louise Alcroft from the Durham Genome Centre who worked with Year 5 and Year 6 to explain all about DNA.
By the end of the day we raised a total of £132.
A new sport kit
A very special thank you to Mr Baker who won this new sport kit for our school.
Lower School Summer Fayre
Thank you to everyone for attending our Lower School Summer Fayre and raising funds to support school trips and activities. A very special thank you to the Parent reps and school parents who assisted in making it such a great experience and raising much needed funds.
