What is Lalilo?
Lalilo is an innovative, visually engaging, standards-aligned literacy software program for K-2 students and teachers. Our program supports literacy learning and instruction through interactive and developmentally appropriate exercises for students and extensive data tracking and planning tools for teachers. We support learning and instruction across all components of literacy, including phonological and phonemic awareness, letter and word recognition, comprehension and fluency, vocabulary, writing, and social literacy. Lalilo strives to provide students with a comprehensive, supportive, engaging, and fun learning environment to promote independence, proficiency, and a love for literacy. In addition, we aim to increase efficiency and efficacy for teachers by providing valuable data and planning tools.
Individualize your instruction.
In our student platform, children “travel” through a world of individualized, self-paced exercises. Our Artificial Intelligence technology helps sequence lessons and content levels to ensure that students are working on developmentally appropriate exercises, individual needs, and grade level literacy standards. Our approach allows students to receive both positive and constructive feedback, while ensuring they are working on skills that are not too easy or too hard. We are able to report back to the teacher areas of strength and growth, while suggesting lesson ideas and offline activities to reinforce skills.
Our teacher dashboard organizes and analyzes student data, taking into account information gathered from both the student platform and from teacher input. Teachers can view students’ progress in individual skills and literacy components, create groups of students for instruction, and plan for correlated lessons. Teachers can also assign student levels or particular skills, which are taken into account in the student’s progression in the program. Lalilo is designed to work as a complement to any teacher’s instructional method and curriculum by supporting students in components that are critical to success in literacy learning.
Meet Common Core Standards.
Lalilo’s program has been designed to help students meet grade level Common Core Literacy standards for grades K-2. Our team of teachers and reading specialists, (along with experts in educational psychology, neuroscience, and linguistics) carefully design content so that it scaffolds learning to help students meet rigorous standards. Our current content focuses on phonological awareness and phonics, which addresses the foundational skills standards of the Common Core. We are working to develop exercises that further address foundational skills (word recognition, print concepts, and fluency) and that support comprehension in both literature and informational texts.
We regularly elicit feedback from our teacher users and experts in the education field in order to constantly improve on our product and to transform literacy learning in the 21st century.

Build a literacy community.
At Lalilo, we are working to promote social literacy and collaborative learning. We believe that independent technology-supported work is only one piece of the literacy learning puzzle. We know that children learn significantly through collaborative and social processes. Therefore we are working to develop exercises on our platform that encourage interaction with peers and adults through small group and partnership work. Developing these social exercises will more closely reflect current teaching practices and prepare students for a future of interacting socially through literacy.
